Monday, 1-9-12

by Andrew Burival

In math today we learned a semi new concept and worked on skills 5-6 evens on the front and back. For English we reviewed simple sentences and compound sentences. We did a riveting PowerPoint together. (We all had to participate in hopes of not being tested out. Before we did we watched as our teacher Mrs. Troester opened quizlet and gave us our new set of words for vocab. Lesson 10. In science because Mr. Corkle hadn’t done something that he should have he assigned us two teenbiz articles. Although we never learned what he hadn’t done it was a pretty fly by class period. For Civics we learned that we wouldn’t be getting our pizza party but hopefully tomorrow. Also we talked about how a person can become a United States citizen, by being born a U.S. citizen or by naturalization. (Taking an oral test and having to get 7 out of 10 right, the process though for forms and such cost about $675.) Then for study hall we studied. For reading we worked on our PowerPoint’s.  We got a packet on “Reading Strategies” and we had to transfer all on the information into a PowerPoint or Keynote. For my seventh period Ag class we didn’t do anything except take attendance because we had to go to the gym and watch the very close very competitive Geography Bee. The third place finisher was James Walton. The second place finisher was Tye Hilker. And the first place finisher was a fourth grader…. He was the first fourth grader ever to win the geography bee before. He was Justin Beeks. Then for 8th period P.E. the girls went outside and walked while the boys/men depending on whom you talk to… The boys/”men” did some pretty crazy basketball things. The first thing we did was to try and beat each other’s amount of layups in two minutes. The next thing we did was sideline basketball. It’s pretty hard to explain I guess, but the red team being my team we won by like 6. An average day at OHS, except for of course the Geo Bee.
